Who we are.

Josiah and Sarah are formerly burned out, crusted over, disappointed and done-with-ministry lovers of Jesus who promised to never give up.

Why Selah?

When we married in 2001, we joyfully committed to "always say yes to Jesus." We were young, full of energy and boundless faith. During more than 20 years on the mission field in a few countries of Asia, we were blessed to see many come to Christ, witness miracles of every kind, and see many churches planted. Jesus loves people, and He will reign!

We also experienced the painful edge of glory; each of us near death at times, churches destroyed by fire and by fighting, friends leaving Jesus and us, what we built with God all but gone. At times we clung to God like two fingers grasping to hold fast to the Rock in a storm. We remained, in ministry and marriage, by His grace and goodness. Every summer we would head out of our crowded Asian city with a tent and provisions, finding peaceful places next to streams, among mountains and open landscapes, getting a reprieve from the battles of full time ministry and the stresses of modern city life. Those retreats would restore us, helping us to hear God more clearly and experience more of His joy.

Several years ago, we unexpectedly left Asia to care for parents. Blessed to land in Colorado but struggling with our place in God's story, we continue to find peace and meet with God in the mountains whenever we have the opportunity. Josiah comes to life in the raw wilderness, away from wifi and modern conveniences, nearer to God, and he invites men to join him. Sarah prefers a more comfortable setting, opting for a beautiful lodge with all the modern conveniences, surrounded by the beauty of Colorado mountains and passing wildlife, and she loves to share her quiet place with sisters.

At the urging of friends whom we took on our spiritual refreshment trips, we began to invite others who are weary from ministry to join us. We now have the privilege of offering you this rest and refreshment. First, you must sacrifice the things on your calendar that will not get done on those days; committing and putting it on your calendar is often the most difficult part, but you are worth it to Him. We invite you to come away for now, to make for the long haul with joy.
